Shopping for the holidays can be hard enough to begin with, but shopping for new parents can be extra tricky! Do you shop for baby? Do you shop for the whole family? You can rest easy as we have put together a list of things that new parents will enjoy receiving as gifts and actually use! We have a combination of things for parents and baby here so you can get something for everyone!
Gift Cards: You cannot go wrong with a gift card no matter what the circumstances are. Whether it be a gift card you can use anywhere like a Visa card, or a card for a major retailer, or even for food delivery services, gift cards are guaranteed to be helpful.
Meal Delivery Service/Meal Kits: During the early stages of life with a new baby, having food delivered or premade can be a huge relief to parents. Healthy meals that are ready to eat will always fill bellies and hearts!
Diapers/Wipes: This may seem like a boring gift but diapers and wipes will always be an expense for parents and this may be a relief for them. Make sure to ask what size they need or you can even get a bigger size that baby will eventually grow into!
Postpartum Recovery Clothes: For the new mom, things like soft nursing nightgowns and comfortable clothes for the postpartum period can help her feel good during her adjustment. One of the hard parts of being comfortable during recovery is finding some comfortable clothes because maternity clothes don’t fit just right nor do pre-pregnancy clothes. This one can be harder due to finding the right sizes for each individual person, but comfortable pants/leggings and nursing tops can be really great.
Self Care Items: It is so easy to neglect self care with a new baby at home. Putting together some self-care items can be a great reminder and encouragement for taking time for one’s self as well. A nice basket with some nice soaps, lotions, shower steamers, face masks, sitz baths, maybe even a candle, makes a great gift! This one can be personalized very easily! You can even throw in some postpartum recovery gear like cold perineum packs and a nice peri bottle.
Lastly, we want to emphasize what will help more than anything else: asking! Everyone’s needs are so unique family to family, and if you want to ensure that your gift will be utilized and valuable, ask and listen!
